The name of the pattern for this blanket is waffle stripes. I omitted the stripes and that just leaves waffles! It's a fabulous, reversible texture for a baby blanket.
Another interesting note on this pattern is its reverse hdc (that's half-double crochet) edging. Reverse hdc works from left to right whereas crochet works normally right to left. It took me 2 tries to get it right. My brain hurt just a little bit, but I guess that goes along with the learning process! Congratulations M&AS!
-Yarn: Bernat Satin Sport, taupe; Red Heart Soft, off white
-Hook: f/5
-Lessons learned: Reducing pattern size. It's only 111 chains (next time I'll do 112) for a final size of 27x30. Learned a new stitch: reverse hdc.
